Comprehensive Coverage

Comprehensive coverage is a type of automobile insurance that provides financial protection against physical damage or loss of the insured vehicle that is not caused by a collision or rollover. This coverage typically includes damage from events such as theft, vandalism, fire, natural disasters (like a hurricane or a tornado), falling objects, damage done to your car by animals, or civil disturbances (like a riot that results in damage or destruction of your car). Comprehensive coverage is optional as opposed to liability insurance, which is required by law in most states and covers damage to other people’s property or injuries to other people in an accident you’re found responsible for. It is often purchased in conjunction with collision coverage, which pays to repair your own vehicle after a crash. It’s important to note that comprehensive coverage has a deductible, which is the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance covers the rest of the cost for the covered loss.
